"While we cannot change what has happened to us, we can change our relationship with it, and from there we can begin healing."

Beverly Reader MD
I'm Dr. Beverly Reader, a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience helping people heal through an approach that blends science, spirituality, and deep human connection.
From the beginning of my career, I've taken a unique path—seeking to understand the deeper roots of emotional pain beyond the traditional labels of the DSM. My work focuses on Complex PTSD, using a combination of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) to support lasting transformation. I believe healing is not just about symptom relief—it's about reclaiming your whole self.
My training began with an internship in medicine and surgery at Wilford Hall Medical Center, followed by psychiatry residency at Georgetown University Hospital. Over the past two decades, I've worked in diverse settings—from inner-city HIV clinics and jails to rehab centers, inpatient units, and community mental health programs. I've also maintained a long-standing private practice, with a focus on trauma, grief, and personal growth. What makes my practice unique is the integration of traditional psychiatry with spirituality and the wisdom I've gained from working with shamanic teachers. I bring together evidence-based medicine, psychotherapy, and sacred healing practices to offer truly holistic care.
My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported—so you can begin to heal from the inside out. I believe the most powerful therapy happens when both people in the room are committed to the process, and it's my honor to walk alongside you as you rediscover your own capacity to heal.
